Ex-PUCIT principal’s acquittal plea dismissed

LAHORE – An accountability court on Tuesday dismissed an application by a man seeking acquittal from a reference pending against him in court.
The petition was filed by former Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT) principal Dr Majid Naeem under Section 265 K of the Pakistan Penal Code. He was charged with involvement in a financial scam and misuse of authority.
According to the National Accountability Bureau, the accused, while being posted as principal, withdrew Rs 2,797,850 from university funds without official approval and illegally transferred the money to his personal account. The accused had filed an application in court stating that he was innocent and had requested acquittal from the pending court reference.
