ISLAMABAD – Former Religious Affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi hinted on Sunday at the possibility of leaving the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) due to maltreatment of party leaders and said that soon he would hold a meeting with Shah Mehmood Qureshi to finalize his future strategy.
His final announcement is expected within the next few days. Sources said, Kazmi decided to quit PPP when the party abandoned him during the Hajj corruption scandal. He was upset when Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani clogged his Rs 80 million development funds.
Kazmi did not attend the public gathering for prime minister in Multan on Sunday. He said that he was charged with corruption despite a lack of evidence by the FIA and added that the scandal had damaged his political status. He also said the real culprits were being saved.
