LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain told reporters on Sunday that his recent meeting with President Asif Zardari was for national interests and every government with the people’s mandate should be given right to rule the country.
Accompanied by PML-Q Punjab President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Shujaat was visiting Federal Minister Samina Khalid Ghurki to offer condolences on the death of her husband. He said that the army and judiciary were doing their respective jobs and only to “hide” one’s mistakes, “invitations” were being extended to them.
He said PML-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif’s politics revolved around merely his own interests and he was doing all he could to “destroy” Punjab, but its future was secure. He said further that Nawaz had no say in the national agenda and the real problems in the country would be ignored by merely issuing statements.
Elahi said that the Sharifs had made an attempt to convert their ‘minority’ government into a majority by splitting the mandate of one party. He stated that no administrative quality was seen in Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Shairf, who had literally turned the prosperous land of Punjab into a bankrupt province.
Criticising the bad governance, he said on average 200 robberies were taking place everyday in Lahore alone and crime had increased alarmingly. He said the PML-Q did not want to play any role in the dismissal of any government and believed that all parties should be given the time to complete their term.
Shujaat appreciated the political vision of President Asif Ali Zardari and said he had patched things up with the PML-Q the larger interests of the country. He said that the PML-Q had set precedence by completing its five-year constitutional tenure as the government and now wanted that government of the Pakistan People’s Party to also complete its tenure.
PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Moonis Elahi, Dr Khalid Ranjha, Mian Tahir Siddiq and Pakistan People’s Party MPA Farooq Yusuf Ghurki were also present on the occasion.
