LAHORE – The Punjab Group of Colleges’ (PGC) two-day Annual Arts Exhibition concluded at Punjabi Cultural Complex on Saturday.
Students from various classes depicted their works which were appreciated by all. Renowned cartoonist Javed Iqbal was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes among the winners. Punjab Art and Culture Executive Director Ghulam Mustafa was the chief guest on the event’s first day. Students participated in four different categories: painting, sketching, cartoons and calligraphy. People gave special attention towards political paintings and cartoons and said that the students did not only possess outclass art talent but also have a lot of awareness about what was happening around them.
An ICom student who made the painting of a person, who loves his pet, told Pakistan Today that he wanted to depict the village culture where everybody loves pets owing to which the animals also prove their loyalty. Students kept informing the visitors about their work. The students used their brush to represent various aspects including terrorism, inflation and corruption. People also appreciated the calligraphy by students and said that the credit goes to the Punjab College who has given a platform to students to use their talent.
The efforts of Programme Coordinator Syed Nadeem Tariq were also admired who made the event a success. A painting showed that how 2011 has proved to be a disastrous year for the US due to the tensions in the Middle East and the Raymond Davis case. An ICS-I student told Pakistan Today that he wants to pursue fine arts and the PGC has given him a lot of opportunities in this regard.
