LAHORE – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has urged the media to play an effective role for combating the challenges faced by the country.
Addressing senior journalists and columnists at a local hotel here, she said that Pakistan’s image internationally was grimed on the issue of terrorism and minorities and government wanted to work with the columnists to improve this image. Dr Firdous said the government had made some unpopular decisions, keeping in view national interest irrespective of the party’s interest. She said the PPP had made a number of sacrifices for freedom of media and in this regard and was moving ahead with the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
