LAHORE – Another army official has replaced Lt Gen (r) Safdar Hussain as president of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan. Gen Mohammad Akram Sahi has taken over as president of the athletics federation. Gen Safdar, for quite some time, had been asking the AFP to relieve him from the post and had given his resignation, but the other officials of the federation wanted him to stay.
But in the recent general council meeting, he was relieved of his duties and the house elected Akram Sahi as their new president. According to Khalid Mahmood, secretary of the federation, Gen. Safdar wanted to quit the post due to personal reasons, but the body wanted his services. However, on his insistence, the general council elected a new president.
