KARACHI – The convocation and graduation ceremonies of the School of Army Air Defence (SAAD) and Ordnance School were held at Malir Cantonment on Friday.
According to an ISPR press release, officers who completed the Air Defence Staff Course-48 and Ordnance School Ammunition Technical Officer’s Course-72, including those from friendly countries, were awarded degrees, certificates and medals on their outstanding performance. Thirty officers including two allied officers attended the course of SAAD.
During the graduation ceremony of SAAD, chief guest General Arms Branch Inspector Lieutenant General Saleem Nawaz congratulated the officers on the successful completion of their course. He dilated upon the importance of role of ground-based air defence in modern warfare. He praised the dedication and professional commitment of faculty members for imparting excellent training to the students of the air defence staff course.
The chief guest also gave away medals to the distinguished student officers. Major M Haroon won the Ehsan Medal for securing the overall first position while Major Adnan Alam Satti and Major Mubashir Hussain were awarded Colonel Commandant’s Medal for securing the second position in the course. Major Amanullah was awarded Commandant’s Medal for producing best individual research paper. Earlier, in a convocation ceremony, degrees of MSc (Military Science) were awarded to the student officers of SAAD by University of Karachi Vice- Chancellor Professor Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui.
Later, the vice-chancellor, who was the chief guest at the convocation ceremony of the Ordnance School, awarded degrees of BSc (Hons) in the Chemistry of Explosives to the graduates of Ammunition Technical Officer’s Course.Course reports were also presented on the occasions to highlight the training objectives and salient features of the courses in the schools.
A large number of senior army officers and families of the graduating officers attended the ceremonies.
