GCU gives away Rs 1.52 million scholarships

LAHORE – The Government College University (GCU) Endowment Fund Trust (EFT) has given Rs 1.529 million in scholarships to as many as 28 needy and talented students of the varsity for their complete one-year academic and hostel expenses. Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt from the GCU EFT Executive Committee said that a seven-member GCU Financial Aid Committee headed by Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies Chairperson Dr Sultan Shah has given the scholarships, donated by Old Ravians, purely on merit after interviewing candidates.
He said the scholarships range from minimum Rs 21,000 to Rs 0.1 million depending upon the fee and academic expenses of a student. Dr. Butt promised more scholarships from the Endowment Fund soon. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ikramul Haq requested the philanthropists and old Ravians to support the GCU Endowment Fund.
Oriental College principal launches his book: Punjab University Oriental College Principal Dr Mazhar Moin’s new book “Muntakhabaat” has been published. The Faculty of Oriental Learning, University of the Punjab, published the book, which is a collection of Islamic concepts of poetry, Allama Iqbal and Dr Ali Shariaty’s works. Dr Mazhar is a renowned teacher and a scholar of Arabic.
Arifa Subha Khan awarded: Journalist, poet and writer Arifa Subha Khan has been awarded a gold medal in connection with World’s Women Day for her services by the Institute of Education Promotion in the Alhamra Hall 1. This was her second Gold Medal. Arifa Khan has played a key role in the services for women over the last 16 years. She was also awarded a shield from Women Development Punjab during a seminar in the Government Gulberg College for women.. She has written several books for women including “Amma Hawa Say Amma Consular Tak” (A woman from Eve to Consular)
