Firdous Ashiq’s services lauded

SIALKOT – Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Ghulam Mustafa Chaudhry has said that Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan is a an asset to the district and a benefactor of the local business community as she played a vital role in the construction of Sialkot International Airport and Sui gas supply to many areas.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan had played a tremendous role in the sanction of Rs 750 million for the airport out of which the federal government had already released Rs 250 million as the first installment, he disclosed. Mustafa further said the federal information minister was making all-out efforts for the release of the remaining amount for the completion of the airport project. He added the role of the minister for the launch of Hajj flights and the construction of the airport would be remembered forever.
Meanwhile, people from different walks of life have hailed the decision of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for allocating the Ministry of Information to Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, saying it will help solve their longstanding problems.
CLERKS DEMAND PAY RAISE: Hundreds of clerks staged a demonstration against price hike and delay in the increase of their salaries. All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) District President Syed Fida Hussain Shah demanded an immediate raise in their salaries as an inordinate delay had been creating a lot of financial problems for them. He vowed to continue their protest till the acceptance of their demands. The protesters chanted slogans against the government. Later, they dispersed peacefully.
