Capital to have another airport after BB’s name

ISLAMABAD – The PPP government’s obsession to name and rename roads and buildings after Benazir Bhutto continues unabated, as the party leadership has decided to also name the New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) after her.
While the federal capital already has Benazir Bhutto International Airport, a press release issued by the Presidency said President chaired a meeting on the progress of the New Benazir Bhutto International Airport project.
The meeting was informed that Benazir Bhutto International Airport project would be completed and become operational by June 2013, when dry test runs would begin. During the meeting, the president reiterated the commitment of the present government to improve the country’s communication infrastructure.
The meeting told the airside infrastructure of the new airport will be completed by April 2012, whereas the passenger terminal building and landside infrastructure were expected to be completed by June 2013 and September 2012.
