LAHORE – Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Ltd-Lahore and SBP-Karachi have reached the final of the seventh SBP Governor’s Cup Inter-Banks Super Series Cricket Tournament 2011. PPCBL won the first semi-final, defeating SBP-Multan by 59 runs. PPCBL scored 197 runs in 20 overs for loss of 5 wickets as their captain hit an unbeaten 109. SBP-Multan were bowled out in 19.5 overs for 138 runs. Fahim Ashraf of PPCBL took four wickets. Muhammad Munir, captain of PPCBL was declared man of the match. In the second semi-final, SBP-Karachi beat SBP-Peshawar by 8 runs. SBP-Karachi scored 166 for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Ibrahim Qureshi scored 43 runs in 26 balls for SBP-Karachi. Muhamad Shoaib took three wickets for SBP-Peshawar. In reply, SBP-Peshawar could score 158 runs for the loss of six wickets. Farooq Ahmed scored 50 runs, while Motiullah scored 42. Ibrahim Qureshi, SBP-Karachi’s wicket keeper batsman, was declared man of the match for his 43 runs, one catch and a tremendous run out which turned the match around. The final will be played on March 14, at Lahore Gymkhana Cricket Ground (Bagh-e- Jinnah).
