Future PM?

Former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi is building his own profile by holding public meeting and press conferences outlining the problems faced by the common man and the issues faced by the country. He is calling the present leadership of PPP incompetent and corrupt. It is strange that he has come to know this only when he is not holding the post of FM in the new cabinet. Why Mr Qureshi did not inform the people during the last three years when he was foreign minister is a question to asked.

Every Pakistani knows that in our country it is the military establishment that has been making the political leaders, political alliances and political parties. Even the founder of Pakistan Peoples Party Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was given the post of foreign minister by Field Marshal General Ayub Khan. After 1965 war when General Ayub signed Tashkent peace agreement with India and Ayub was becoming unpopular with the masses, Bhutto find his moment to achieve his personal political agenda for Pakistan.

Similarly, the PML(N) chief Nawaz Sharif was brought up by General Zia-ul-Haq to carry his mission of making Pakistan a state of jehadis to regain the lost glory of Islam with the barrel of the gun. Nawaz Sharif wanted to be the Ameer-ul-Momineen of Ummah. There are many similarities between Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, but the question is how will he be able to replace the Zardaris hold on the party or will there be another faction within the PPP.
