LAHORE – Shahbaz Bhatti’s murder was ‘deplorable’ but they will not allow paving way for amendment in the blasphemy laws, under the cover of this incident, Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP) Secretary General Qari Zawar Bahadar said on Thursday in a press conference at the Lahore Press Club. He said that JUP has decided to hold Tahafz-e-Namoos-i-Risalat Conference at Minar-i-Pakistan on 27th of this month. He said if the ‘rulers’ tried to amend the blasphemy laws or release Raymond Davis, religious parties will put up ‘stiff resistance’.
“Bhatti was eliminated by forces that were unable to create rift between Barelvi’s and Deobandi’s. The people, who take responsibility of every terrorist act, are not Taliban but agents of the American CIA. No sane Muslim can execute attacks against mosques, shrines and on other peaceful population of the country,” he said. He said political upheaval was not far and he was sure that religious parties would lead the event.
