Akhuwat reaches out to the youth

LAHORE – Akhuwat, an organization that introduced interest-free microfinance lending, held presentations at Government College University and Kinnaird College (KC) on Friday as part of its youth outreach program. More than 200 KC students attended the presentations. Akhuwat’s representatives Imran Sarwar and Aneeq Cheema presented the multidimensionality of concepts such as entrepreneurship and empowerment.
Students discussed Akhuwat’s involvement with indigenous institutions, interest-free lending, emphasis on volunteerism and the effort to transform the borrowers into donors through the ‘Member Donor Program’, sustainability, its return rates, philosophy and expressed a desire to get involved. Akhuwat board of Directors’ member Kamran Shams concluded the presentations at KC whereas Akhuwat founder and Executive Director Dr Amjad Saqib wrapped up the session at GCU by chronicling his journey with Akhuwat and urging the audience to contribute more towards society.
