ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) will soon introduce the 20th Constitutional Amendment in parliament to propose uniform syllabus in educational institutions across the country and keep the subject with Centre.
Addressing the concluding session of three-day International Seerat Conference here, PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain feared that different syllabus in each province might lead to a dangerous situation as one provincial government might opt to replace Quaid-e-Azam with Gandhi.
He said during discussions on the 18th and 19th constitutional amendments, his party had favoured a uniform syllabus in the educational institutions across the country but majority decision prevailed. However, he added that his party submitted dissenting note on the issue. PML-Q president said that solution to all the problems faced by the Muslim Ummah lies in following the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He said Islam guarantees the rights of minorities and women. He urged the Muslim scholars to promote the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) as a role model for the rest of the people.
He also appreciated the efforts of the participants of the conference from abroad. Earlier, Mufti Mohi-ud-Din, Patron Majlis Sout-ul-Islam Pakistan said that no political or religious party in the country was working against the interests of the minorities. He believed that minorities minister Shahbaz Bhatti was not killed for being a Christian rather he was killed for reasons best known to the killers.
He proposed to the government to convene a meeting of the religious and political leadership besides inviting army, judiciary, lawyers and media representatives to discuss the current challenges faced by the nation and its solution.
He termed the US-imposed Afghan war the real cause of terrorism across the world. The declaration passed at the end of the conference condemned terrorism in all its forms and urged the youth to avoid causing damage to the others in any manner. It also demanded of the authorities concerned to include the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in the syllabus. It further demanded the government to review the family laws of 1961 and for an establishment of an institution to educate youth against terrorism.
