KARACHI – Four people were gunned down in separate incidents across Orangi Town on Wednesday, Pakistan Today has learnt. Police said that two friends – Muhammad Yaqoob, 42, and Ziaur Rehman – were passing through Qaddafi Chowk in Mominabad when four men on two motorcycles opened fire at them. Both friends died on the spot and their bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) before handing them over to the heirs, the law enforcers added. Following the incident, the area residents surrounded the Mominabad police station and pelted it with stones to protest the killing. They also demanded the SHO to resign because he has failed to curb targeted killings in the area; however, they ended their protest after they were assured that the killers would be arrested.

Ali and Zahid were taken to ASH where the latter was declared out of danger,” the law enforcers added.
Kati Pahari, the border area between two ethnic groups, shut down after killings.
Intermittent aerial firing was reported in different localities of the town and residents were confined to their houses. Trading activities were also suspended.
Orangi Town DSP Majeed Abbas said that two ethnic groups area have turned the area into a battlefield yet again.
He said that the overall law and order situation in the town was under control, but men on motorcycles were striking their targets in different parts of the town.
“The police have cordoned off some troubled areas of the town including Qasba Colony, Banaras Colony, Aligarh and Kati Pahari,” he added. The police official said that criminals have set up pickets and firing at each other, suspending Kati Pahari’s road link with other parts of Orangi.
