Islamabad police clueless about 5 blind murders

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have failed to solve five blind murders occurred in the first two months of current year. Two cases took place in Industrial Area Police Station precincts while two people were killed Ternol Police Station limits and one person was killed in the jurisdiction of Margalla Police Station. But police with despite its reported excessive patrolling have yet not traced the killers yet, Pakistan Today has learnt.
A senior official said that the blind murder cases have in fact increased alarmingly in the city because of police’s failure to bring culprits to justice. He said that in most of the cases police was yet to start the investigations. “The occurrence of over five blind murder cases was reported during 70 days, which speaks volumes about the working of the law-enforcers”, he added.
One of the cases is March 2 assassination of federal minister for minorities Shahbaz Bhatti in sector I-8, in the limits of Industrial Area Police Station. Soon after the killing of Shahbaz a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) had been formed but police could made little headway the said case. On February 11 a lady doctor Dr Jiya, 48, of Chinese origin was killed at her residence-cum-clinic at the Rose Plaza in Markaz I-8. She had been tortured before strangulation.
The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Industrial Area Police Station. The police have made no progress in this case so far. Station House Officer (SHO) Industrial Area Police Station (SHO) Mehboob said that police were investigating both cases ‘from different angles’ but they had yet to apprehend the culprits.
Similarly another senior director at the Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education, Dr Arshad Ovais Qazion was brutally murdered in his official residence in Sector G-8/4 on February 8, in the limits of Margalla Police Station.
When contacted Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Hussain Lasi said that police had not made any arrest in this regard and that investigation was under way. On February 16 Tarnol police found a corpse of a 26-year-old male who police believed had been killed in Jhangi Syedain. The police have yet to establish the identity of the deceased. In another incident, five robbers killed Rehm Ali who was a helper with a truck driver when they did not stop the truck when armed robbers signaled. The botched robbery took place in the limits of Ternol Police Station. No arrest could be made in that case too.
