Hafizabad district officer accused of embezzling Rs 2.4 million

HAFIZABAD – Educationist Professor (retd) Ejaz Butt has said that Hafizabad Colleges District Officer Ejaz Ahmad Bhaghat has embezzled more than Rs 2.4 million while misusing his powers. Addressing a press conference at the press club, he said Ejaz Bhaghat appointed lecturers in BPS-17 on contract basis in Government College Hafizabad three year ago.
He added that instead of several senior female assistant professors in the said college, Ejaz Bhagat gave the college’s powers to a male and junior lecturer owing to political influence that was against the rules and regulations. He said that when citizens complained against him, Ejaz Bhagat changed the enquiry officer so that his embezzlement could not be exposed. He demanded the Punjab chief minister take strict action against the corrupt district officer.
PASSERBY CRUSHED TO DEATH: A passerby was crushed to death in a road accident at village Channi Hunjrawan near Hafizabad. Reportedly, Muhammad Inayat was coming along the roadside to the village from his fields. When he reached near the village, an unknown car ran over him. As a result, he died instantly while the driver fled away from the scene.
‘MILLIONS BEING SPENT ON IT EDUCATION’: The Punjab government is spending millions of rupees on information technology (IT) education in the province. Hafizabad Information Technology Executive District Officer Syed Muhammad Zaheer Shah said this while addressing the opening ceremony of teachers’ training. He said the modern computer labs had been established with the cost of Rs 15 million in all the high schools of the district for promoting information technology. He further said that more than 150 teachers would be imparted latest information technology training to enhance their knowledge in six phases.
SEMINAR HELD TO OBSERVE WOMEN’S DAY: A seminar was held to observe International Women’s Day at the press club on Tuesday in which Press Club Chairman Mian Muhammad Siddique Bhatti, General Secretary Aamir Sohail Mughal, Bar Secretary Syed Asim Bukhari, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Hafizabad General Secretary Muhammad Arshad Mehind and many others also participated.
Hafizabad District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Asif who was the chief guest at the ceremony said the provincial government was providing maximum facilities to women in the province.
He said Rs 100 million were being spent on various development schemes for establishing girls’ middle schools at union council level and in the district.
He added that seven vocational training institutes were working in the district to train women in different trades so that they might be able to earn their livelihood in a respectable manner.
