Lahore – Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines’ (SNGPL) claims of accommodating domestic users proved wrong, as half of the city experienced gas load-shedding on Wednesday.
Despite weather changes and a gas demand reduction by the domestic users, SNGPL failed to supply gas to homes. Johar Town, Wapda Town, Township, Wahdat Road, Rehmanpura, Muslim Town, Shadman, Gulberg and other vicinities remained deprived of gas for hours while many other areas experienced extremely low gas pressure. SNGPL sources said the company was accommodating CNG stations at the cost of domestic users. The areas near CNG stations suffered as domestic users had to depend on LPG and kerosene oil.
The consumers said though weather had changed and heater usage had decreased, they were still deprived of gas.
They said throughout the winters, SNGPL kept insisting that gas pressure was low due to use of heaters and geysers. “The use of heaters has almost ended while geysers have been turned off, even then there is no gas for the domestic users,” said a Rehmanpura resident Jawad Ahmed. SNGPL Sales General Manager Rehan Nawaz did not attend phone
calls by Pakistan Today.
