Alhamra pays tribute to Rangeela

LAHORE – The Alhamra Arts Council organised a musical comedy on Wednesday in honour of the comedian Rangeela. Several artistes including Amanullah, Sakhawat Naz, Hasan Abbas, Sohail Pataka, Kashif Prince, Ghaffar Lehri, Azhar Rangeela, Nasheela, Asim Siddiqui, Allah Rakha Pepsi, Tariq Jackson, Saeed Sahiki and Amanat Chan performed in the musical comedy. Meanwhile, Nida Faiz and Asad Kishore sang songs. A large crowd gathered in Alhamra Hall 1 to witness the tribute to the country’s favourite film comedian Rangeela who had been the dominant force of Pakistani cinema for over forty years. He was famous for his comedy as well as expressions of melancholy with which he accented tragic song melodies. Rangeela died in May 2005.
