LAHORE – The University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore commemorated International Women’s Day on Tuesday to express solidarity with women’s groups and organisations worldwide. Gals Zone, a women’s club at UMT, organised events to promote women’s empowerment and create awareness about women’s rights and responsibilities among female students. A floral decoration contest was also held on the occasion in which six teams participated. Tehreen Rehman and Madiha Mushtaq won the floral competition while Faiza Liaqat and Rubab Hussain secured the second position. Small-scale women entrepreneurs were also invited to set up stalls of jewellery, handicrafts, home-made bakery items, garments, handmade bags and embroidered clothes. A large number of students, faculty and staff members visited the stalls and appreciated the hard work, creativity and business acumen of women.
