ISLAMABAD – In a response to the government’s refusal of not sacking Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Waseem Ahmed, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday formed a larger bench to hear the case of Ahmed as well as others officials on contract employment on March 11.
The CJP issued notices to the attorney general, the establishment secretary, advocates general and chief secretaries of the provincial governments and the Islamabad commissioner to appear before the court on March 11, but asked them to submit data of contract employment of civil servants until March 10.
A notice was also issued to Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, counsel for the federation, while all secretaries and heads of the attached departments were directed to cooperate with the Establishment secretary. In his order, the CJP directed the attorney general and Establishment Division secretary to furnish a complete list of the employees of the federal ministries and attached departments, who had been working as civil servants under the Civil Servants Act 1973, and after superannuation had been appointed on a contractual basis, including in police and the FIA.
The order said precis of service of each individual should be submitted till March 11 to substantiate the necessity of allowing them to continue in the office after superannuation.
Is this the same CJP who forcibly got Ramday an extension of one year? Though, his effort to get him extension for the second year failed. Shame!!!
