LAHORE – International Women’s Day was celebrated on Tuesday at Lahore College for Women University’s (LCWU) Gender and Development Studies department in collaboration with Actionaid Pakistan. The students participated in various activities including poetry, dialogues, speeches and presentations.
Two different plays were also presented; the first play was presented by the Gender and Development Studies department while the other by a group of Home-based Women Workers’ Helplines(WWHL) which is an organization with the mission to enable women to play their role in political, economic and social arenas in promoting and strengthening democratic and gender-sensitized culture in Pakistan.
Department Head Sarah Shahid highlighted the importance of International Women’s Day in her address. Humanities, Islamic and Oriental learning Dean Dr Hamala Khalid awarded appreciation certificates to students.
