KARACHI – Funeral prayers for Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) leader Maulana Ahmad Madni and his son were offered after Zuhr prayers and both were laid to rest amid tight security on Sunday. The ASWJ announced a country-wide day of mourning on March 11 against the assassination of Madni and his son Abu Bakar, who were killed by unknown assailants in Buffer Zone, Karachi on Saturday.
The funeral prayers were offered at Darul Uloom Mehmoodia, Buffer Zone and the bodies were laid to rest in Sakhi Hassan graveyard. Tight security was arranged on the occasion and police and rangers patrolled the area. Madni was the half-brother of Maulana Azam Tariq and was an active member of the outlawed organisation Sipah-e-Sahaba.
