Examination centres secure?

LAHORE – On directions of the deputy inspector general (DIG) operations, Lahore Police on Monday tightened security around various Matriculation examination centres. According to details, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore has established 359 examination centers in various areas of the provincial capital. As the exams have started, the Lahore Police have to provide security to students appearing in the examinations and teachers who are giving duties at the examination centres.
On Monday, DIG Operations Rao Sardar directed all divisional superintendents of police (SP) and all station house officers (SHO) to provide sufficient security at all examination centers. The DIG Operations has ordered strict security arrangements not only to avoid any untoward incident but also to ensure transparency in the examinations. Sardar directed the SHOs concerned to engage traffic wardens to ensure a smooth flow of traffic at and around examinations centers. According to sources, all SHOs have deployed policemen at every examination centre.
A SHO, seeking anonymity, told Pakistan Today that due to a shortage of policemen, all SHOs are facing problems in deploying cops at examination centres. He said that due to the shortage, every SHO has tried to ensure the availability of at least one or two policemen at every examination centre. A large number of policemen are deployed for security of mosques, imambargahs, shrines and other important public and private places.
