Zardari, Munter discuss Davis

ISLAMABAD – Amid reports of the arrival of two leading legal experts from the US to provide legal assistance to Raymond Davis, US Ambassador Cameron P Munter on Saturday met President Asif Ali Zardari at the presidency to discuss the Pak-US joint efforts to resolve the Davis issue.
A well-placed source informed Pakistan Today that the two discussed possible strategies to repatriate Davis, under trial for killing two Pakistanis in Lahore in January. β€œThe two countries are trying to bridge the gulf on their official stance on the (Raymond) Davis issue. A proposal was also discussed to resolve the matter through blood money,” the source added.
Meanwhile, two legal experts from the US have arrived to provide legal assistance to Davis in his court trial. Both the experts, Albert and Bruce, have reached Pakistan in their personal capacity on a weeklong assignment. According to a diplomatic source, the US experts would meet Davis at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore to discuss the case with him.
The experts are likely to meet the families of the two Pakistanis killed by Davis. According to the source, the experts will pass a day in Lahore and would then go to Islamabad to meet key political figures.
