GUJRANWALA A woman was torched by her husband for being childless while two others, including a security guard, were killed in the city. Reportedly, Fakhira was married seven years ago to Muhammad Shakeel at Bakhtewala who resided in Greece for livelihood. The couple remained issueless and it became a bone of contention in the family. On the day of the incident, Shakeel tortured Fakhira and burnt her after sprinkling petrol on her body. The brothers of Fakhira blamed that Muhammad Shakeel and his mother killed his sister.
The deceased’s relatives staged a demonstration outside Sabzi Mandi Police Station for the arrest of the alleged killers. The police have started investigations after lodging an FIR against M Shakeel and his mother. Kot Ladha police registered a case and started conducting raids for the arrest of the killers who fled away soon after the incident. TREE-Plantation Campaign: Over two million saplings will be planted during the spring plantation campaign in Gujranwala while a comprehensive policy has been chalked out for its success. It was disclosed by Gujranwala Forest Circle Conservator Dr Muhammad Rafique while talking to newsmen. He said saplings had already been provided to nurseries and would be available at nominal prices.
As many as 23 nursery farms will also be available during the campaign for providing saplings, he said and added the campaign would be beneficial for making the division green and improving the environment.
