ISLAMABAD – The government has finally decided to resolve seniority issues which had triggered problems among customs and income tax group officers for the last few months. The government has constituted a departmental committee to submit recommendations within three weeks. A notification, issued by the Federal Board of Revenue on Thursday, said that the FBR chairman has constituted a committee to resolve issues of integration of the Inland Revenue Service.
Administration Member Tahir Raza Naqvi has been appointed convener of the committee and includes IRS Member Khawar Khurshid Butt and Customs Member Mumtaz Haider Rizvi. The committee would also co-opt for a representative from the Establishment Division. The inter-seniority issues among officers of the same batch would be raised before the Federal Services Tribunal. The committee would hear representatives of both service groups and other interested officers for better understanding of the issue to have multifaceted perspective. The committee would submit its report within three weeks to the Chairman FBR.
