LAHORE – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief MNA Fazlur Rehman on Saturday met Jamaat-i-Islami head Syed Munawar Hassan at Mansoora. In the meeting, that lasted about 30 minutes, both the leaders discussed issues of mutual interests, after which the JUI-F leader addressed a press conference during which Munawar Hassan and other JI members remained silent.
The JUI-F head warned that they would not allow anyone to use the murder of Minorities Affairs minister Shahbaz Bhatti as a pretext to crush religious institutions. Denying reports, Fazl said no alliance had been finalized yet but they were working towards it.
However, responding to a question, he did not comment on his statement in the parliament in which he clearly indicated that if the blasphemy law was misused, it can be discussed. “If a law is being misused against minorities we are ready to discuss it,” he said.
