LAHORE – Going back on the statement that he made on Saturday after meeting Jamaat-i-Islami leader Munawar Hassan at Mansoora, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman said on Sunday he will not allow Shahbaz Bhatti’s assassination to become a reason for allowing any review of the blasphemy law.
Addressing the workers convention of JUI-F, he said no consensus on blasphemy law is required. The government was using the cover of ‘reconciliation’ to take decisions to promote American agenda in the country, he said, adding that the common man will not benefit unless the economy, law and order, constitution and politics are not free of external influence.
