Fatima Jinnah College hosts annual art exhibition

LAHORE – Government Fatima Jinnah College, Chuna Mandi, held an annual art exhibition under Principal Asia Begum’s supervision on Sunday. Twenty colleges of Lahore sent their representatives to the exhibition. Chief guest Saleema Hashmi inaugurated the exhibition while the judges comprised Saima Zahid and Anila Zulfiqar from University of The Punjab.
Rubina Shaheen and Fozia were the main organizers of the event that also included inter-collegiate competitions of fresh and dry flower arrangement and oil and pastel colour painting in which the students were asked to draw and paint the historical building of Fatima Jinnah College. Mrs Jamshaid hosted the ceremony following the exhibition; the principal said art was an expression of human aesthetics and by encouraging such activities among students a healthy atmosphere can be created among students.
She also praised the Mass Communication department for its students getting top seven positions in University of The Punjab. Saleema Hashmi complimented the participating students and said the exhibition was a great effort by the Walled City college students. She said women could do everything by focusing more.
Wajeeha Khaleel got first, Tayyaba got second and Um-e-Habiba got third position in the competition while Sundas Inaam, Sana, Anam, Aisha Javaid, Aisha Saeed, Mah Noor, Tayyaba, Madeeha and Hirra were also awarded.
Narmeen, Abeera and Sidra won prizes in the calligraphy competition. Iqra Tariq from Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) was first, Aisha Ijaz from Aisha Degree College was second, Iqra Khalil stood third and Urooj Fawad got forth position in the oil painting competition, Sana Khurram from Gulberg College stood first, Mariyum Saeed from LCWV stood second and Aqsa Batool from Gulberg College got third position in the water painting competition, Iqra Maqbol from Gulberg College stood first, Beenish Urooj from Aisha Degree College was second and Mah-jabeen won third position in fresh flower arrangement where as Sana Qayoom won first prize, Um-e-Rubba from Gulshan Ravi College won second prize and Irum Zulfiqar from Aisha Degree College won third prize in dry flower arrangement.
Principal Asia Begum thanked the chief guest and judges and presented them with college shields.
