LAHORE – The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) urges the federal government to hold a free and independent judicial inquiry into the Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa operations, APML Vice-President Major General (r) Rashid Qureshi said on Saturday. He was speaking at a press conference at the Lahore Press Club. The former presidential spokesman said that former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf’s government did not harm civilians and took every decision in the national interest.
Qureshi said that Musharraf was accused of killing “innocent” students and people but what stopped the present federal government to conduct an independent inquiry into the incident. The APML ice-president said that despite passage of three years, families of victims of the Lal Masjid operation have not filed any complaint of human rights violation. He said that the Musharraf government did nothing wrong and as far as the issue of missing persons was concerned, many of them went to Afghanistan for jihad while some of them went missing due to their illegal activities.
