All concurrence list depts to be transferred to provinces

KARACHI – All departments mentioned under the concurrence list will be transferred to the provinces, it was pointed out during a meeting between Federal Inter-Provincial Coordination Minister Raza Rabbani, Federal Petroleum Minister Naveed Qamar and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah at the Chief Minister’s House on Saturday. According to an official handout, they discussed issues pertaining to transfer of powers from the federal government and inter-provincial problems after implementation of the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the devolution of five ministries under the programme and the five more ministries to be transferred to the provinces in March.
Matters regarding the situation arising after the devolution of various government departments also came under discussion in detail and it was reaffirmed that the programme will be fully implemented in letter and spirit after the approval of the amendment.
The chief minister said that there is acute shortage of water in the Indus River and people are facing hardships in three to four districts due to the drought-like conditions. Several other important issues were also discussed in the meeting, which was attended by Sindh Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ayaz Soomro and Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Meanwhile, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Atiq Ahmed also called on the Sindh chief minister on Saturday. He was warmly welcomed by the chief minister along with Sindh Agriculture Minister Ali Nawaz Shah, the finance minister, the law and parliamentary affairs minister, Coordinator to Sindh Chief Minister Siddique Abu Bhai and others.
