PESHAWAR – The authorities Saturday said militants bombed another two government schools in Khyber Agency and Darra Adam Khel, a semi-tribal area bordering the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Saturday. Although no human causality was reported, the buildings were badly damaged in the blasts. According to an official source in Darra Adam Khel, four classrooms, a veranda and boundary wall collapsed in the blast caused by planted explosives.
And in Khyber Agency, officials said suspected militants blew up a government school, badly damaging the structure. Local people say attacks on the government installations including schools and health centres are continuing unabated in the recent years, but there is no security plan in place to secure the national assets. Attacks on government-run educational institutions, mostly for girls, have increased in the recent months in the tribal areas and most of the schools are now empty, as teaching and other staff are avoiding going to schools.
The students in the tribal areas are being deprived of education as most of the schools are either closed or giving a deserted look.
