LAHORE – The Pakistan Rugby Union will hold the second phase of the preparatory camp for the HSBC Asian 5 Nations competition from today. The selection camps have already been held in the north, south and central zones. The first combined training camp starts this Sunday (today) in Garrison Degree College Lahore. Development Officer Jamal Qureshi said: “We are starting early this year, as it is important for us to make sure we are well-prepared.”
He added that they will be holding the camps in two cities, one at Lahore and the other in Islamabad. The selection committee has picked about 60 boys from the initial 120 that tried out. Head coach Rizwan Malik, who is in charge of the camps, said he was happy to see a lot of new faces. He hoped the early preparations will help improve Pakistan’s prospects in the competitions. The HSBC Asian 5 Nations Div III will feature Pakistan, China, Guam and Indonesia. Pakistan are seeded no. 2, behind China, and will play their first game against third seeded Guam in June 2011.
