PBC seeks recovery of abducted judges, lawyers from Balochistan

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Friday demanded the federal and Balochistan governments immediately recover abducted judges and lawyers of Balochistan, else the council would give a nationwide strike call. It also threatened to devise other courses of action for the release and recovery of the abducted judges and lawyers. Condemning the abduction of Distrct and Sessions Judge Jan Muhammad Gohar Yasinzai, Civil Judge Muhammad Ali Kakar, and lawyers Munir Ahmed Mirwani, Agha Zahir Shah, Saleem Akhtar and Muhammad Tahir, PBC Vice Chairman Abdul Latif Afridi said in a statement that law enforcement agencies of the province had failed to recover the judges and lawyers despite a lapse of more than seven days. He warned the federal and provincial governments that lawyers would call a nationwide strike if the missing judges and lawyers of Balochistan were not recovered. Afridi expressed concern on the increasing incidents of abduction, especially of the members of the bar and judiciary, and the worsening law and order situation across the province.
