ISLAMABAD – Leaders of the major opposition parties in the National Assembly on Friday got together at the residence of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman to discuss the prevailing political situation in the country.
The leaders included PML-Q President Shujaat Hussain and MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Fazl said no grand political alliance was in the offing. However, he said all the political parties were united on national issues.
He said the government in the Centre was weak which could not pull the country out of the prevailing political and economic crisis. Shujaat said the meeting was aimed at discussing the strategy to pull the country out of the crisis. He said the government had no time to think about such issues. Sattar said the country was in the grip of a severe economic crisis.
“Poverty and unemployment are the other major issues which the government needs to address,” he added.
