LAHORE – A general house meeting of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) was held on Friday, and condemned the attack on Raza Kazim and his son Ali Raza Kazim on the premises of the Supreme Court.
Raza Kazim and his son appeared before the SC’s bench as PTV’s lawyers in a case against a private TV channel. When they came out of the courtroom they were insulted and beaten up by some men, allegedly from the private TV channel against which they were pursuing the case.
The meeting unanimously passed the two resolutions and condemned the assault on the lawyers. LHCBA President Asghar Ali Gill said that the humiliation of Raza Kazim was the insult of the lawyers’ community. He said the media was engaged in a propaganda against the lawyers, and had started using a ‘negative word’; ‘wuqla gardi’, for the lawyers.
LHCBA Secretary Arshad Malik Awan and Supreme Court lawyers Mian Aman Ullah and Dr Basit also condemned the incident.
