PPP calls murder an attack on Jinnah’s philosophy

Lahore – Condemning the murder of Shahbaz Bhatti, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab termed it “an attack on the philosophy of Quaid-e-Azam as well as an attempt to breach his commitment with minorities of the country” here on Thursday. The leaders of PPP declared Bhatti’s assassination as an assault to the enlightened and broadminded thoughts of Pakistanis initiated by late Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for which Salman Taseer and now Shahbaz Bhatti have scarified their lives.
Speaking at the memorial reference organised at PPP Punjab secretariat, the PPP leadership expressed the determination that the journey towards the vision of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto would continue at any cost. The leaders said the PPP and the government would not be deterred by the extremists and would continue to fight against militant mindset till final victory. However, they announced that the PPP would now battle at the front foot.
The PPP leaders paid glowing tributes to late minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti. Raja Riaz, the opposition leader in Punjab Assembly said Shahbaz Bhatti had rendered a huge sacrifice that added another chapter of glory to the history of the party.
The memorial reference for Shahbaz Bhatti also offered Fateha for Rai Muzamil, Benazir Bhutto, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Salman Taseer. Pastor Anwar Shahzad performed a service for the departed soul of the assassinated minister. Zulfiqar Gondal, Sami Ullah Khan, Faiza Malik and other parliamentary leaders of PPP attended the reference.
