LAHORE – The Matriculation Annual Examination 2011, to be held under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore, is starting from today.
As many as 461,856 candidates are appearing in the exams for which 624 examination centres in five districts have been established, while special squads and monitoring teams have also been formed. BISE Chairman Prof Dr Akram Kashmiri, addressing a press conference on Friday, said the board had completed all arrangements for the exams. Controller of Examinations Prof Manzoor ul Hassan Niazi was also present at the press conference.
The BISE chairman said dozens of centres were established in various localities where the candidates were issued roll number slips, while the same were also dispatched at the candidates’ postal addresses. He said those who could not receive roll number slips at their homes were provided with the slips at the BISE’s office. Talking about the new online registration system, he said it was a good facility for the students, who were only facing problems owing to their lack of awareness. He said this system will also help to eliminate the ‘booti mafia’.
Dr Akram said the board had also introduced answer-sheets with bar codes to minimise errors. He said candidates appearing from a particular school have been allotted different centres in one particular zone, unlike the old practice. He said the board has also set up a control room and an information desk for candidates who can contact BISE’s officials on these numbers: 99200033-34, 99200142 and 99200192-97 (Ext 217, 251). Class 9 Annual Examination 2011 will commence from March 21.
