JI chief blames govt for Bhatti’s murder

LAHORE – Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Syed Munawar Hasan has said that Federal Minister Shahbaz Bhatti’s murder was a conspiracy to create bad blood between the Muslims and the Christians. In his Friday’s sermon at Mansoora, he said the ‘murder’s responsibility rested with the govt’ because it could not provide adequate security to Bhatti. He said the Pakistani Muslims respected the minorities and their worship places, and the minorities were free to lead their lives in accordance with their religious teachings. However, the ‘anti-Pakistan forces’ wanted to destabilize the country by fanning religious hatred, he said. He alleged that the ‘rulers’ were playing with the country’s solidarity and the citizens’ lives by ‘trusting the US’.
