International football returns to Karachi today

LAHORE – Karachi’s Peoples Sports Complex Stadium will host the eagerly-awaited football match between Pakistan and Palestine on Friday (today) at 4 pm.
The stadium, brainchild of former chairman District Municipal Committee (South) Jamshed Ahmed Khan, is situated at Lyari Town, a congested seaside settlement in Karachi. It is the country’s only exclusive and properly floodlit football stadium with 40,000 seats.
It is also a regular venue of for the Pakistan Premier Football League since 2004. It will be the second match of the home and away series between the two countries, with Pakistan losing the opener 2-1. On their away tour in May, the greenshirts will play another two matches. The coaches of Pakistan and Palestine football teams – Tariq Lutfi, Moussa Bezaz- have already announced their squads for the Friday clash. The officials who supervise the Karachi tie will be Rana Naseer Ahmed (Referee), Shahid Hussain and Shafaat Habib (ARs) and Rana Jehanzeb Tipu (4th Official).
