ISLAMABAD – The interior secretaries of Pakistan and India would meet in New Delhi on March 28-29 to resume the Indo-Pak dialogue, which has been suspended since the November 2008 Mumbai attacks, Foreign Office spokeswoman Tehmina Janjua said in a weekly press briefing on Thursday.
“Following agreement to resume a full-spectrum dialogue between Pakistan and India, the first meeting under the resumed process will be held on March 28-29 in the Indian capital,” said Janjua. “[The] interior secretaries of the two countries will meet to discuss counter-terrorism, narcotics control and humanitarian issues,” she added.
Interior Secretary Chaudhry Qamar Zaman will represent Pakistan at the talks and the Indian side will be led by Indian Home Secretary Gopal K Pillai. “We expect the Indians to ask about the progress on Mumbai attacks trial being held here involving seven suspected members of the banned militant group Lashkar-e- Taiba who were arrested for their alleged connection with the Mumbai attacks,” a diplomat said.
