Firefighters refresh their skills

LAHORE – Four-hundred and seventy six firefighters have successfully completed an 18-day refresher course on environmental safety, fire investigation, community safety and physical fitness conducted by the Emergency Services Academy. The course aimed to train firefighters to investigate chemical and fire incidents, installations and usage of fire hydrants, environmental hazards and the community’s training to reduce and control the increasing number of incidents.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Committee member MPA Iijaz Ahmad Khan congratulated rescuers and instructors on the successful completion of the training and said the Punjab chief minister had extended Rescue 1122 throughout the province due to rescuers’ commitment and professionalism. He hoped that all firefighters would maintain the Rescue 1122 standard and promised to help increase rescuers’ salaries. Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer said quality training was Rescue 1122’s motto. He said, “It is our first priority to provide timely rescue response to every incident’s victim.”
He said that Rescue 1122 was expanding its system according to increasing alarming incidents’ needs and was trying to provide international standard services to create a sense of safety among people.
