Chunian Bar observes strike against rising crime

KASUR – Chunian Bar Association observed a strike against the rising crime in the area and the lawyers boycotted the courts’ proceedings completely. Tehsil Bar Secretary General Muhammad Akram said police had failed to control the crime in the district as the robbery incidents had increased. The lawyers demanded higher authorities take concrete steps to control crimes and ensure proper patrolling of police in the tehsil.
FAMILY DEPRIVED OF CASH, GOLD ORNAMENTS: Bandits deprived a family of cash and gold ornaments at village Rajjiwala in the jurisdiction of Ganda Singh Police Station. Reportedly, at least six dacoits barged into the house of Yaseen and looted Rs 300,000 and three tolas of gold ornaments. They also took away two rifles, two pistols and a pump action gun from the house.
JOURNALISTS’ PROTEST yields RESULTS: Journalists’ protest forced the police to register a case against policemen for torturing two media people after 10 days.
Reportedly, two journalists Mudassar Gilani and Shahid Bukhari went to Sheikham Police Staion to probe a report where the policemen used abusive language and tortured them.
Journalists from Kasur took out rallies against the police and continued their protest for more than a week, demanding action against the cops who tortured the journalists.
Later, on the directives of Sheikhupura Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Kasur District Police Officer (DPO) Gohar Nafees suspended 11 policemen including Station House Officer (SHO) Ata Musatafa, two assistant sub inspectors (ASIs) Zafar and Asaf and eight constables.
