APTMA hails Zardari for gas supply restoration

LAHORE – All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Chairman Gohar Ejaz thanked President Asif Ali Zardari for immediately restoring gas to textile industries in Punjab and ensuring prompt compliance of the directive.
Addressing a news conference, here on Thursday, along with SNGPL Deputy Managing Director Shariq and APTMA office-bearers, Gohar Ejaz said that Faisalabad had been given preference in restoration of five weeks gas supply to industries in Punjab on the APTMA’s recommendation to ensure immediate hiring of thousands of textile workers associated with cottage weaving industries.
Three member committee comprising Petroleum secretary, PEPCO managing director and APTMA chairman sorted out the modalities for restoration of normal gas supplies to the Punjab industries. APTMA Chairman said since the largest number of workers were affected due to gas cut the APTMA had proposed to restore supply to Faisalabad from March 4, while the five days a week gas supplies would be restored in Lahore from March 8, 2011.
