Punjab will give 4,000 5-marla plots to homeless families

HAFIZABAD – The Punjab government is distributing 4,000 free five-marla plots among homeless people in Jinnah Abadis across the province. Hafizabad District Coordination Officer Muhammad Asif said this while addressing a ceremony held at the district complex for computerised balloting of five-marla plots. At least 198 plots were allotted in the district Hafizabad through computerised draw on merit, he said, adding 132 plots were allotted to the deserving people in Tehsil Hafizabad and 66 in tehsil Pindi Bhattian.
Muhammad Asif supervised the computerised draw while a large number of applicants, officials concerned and journalists were present on the occasion. The DCO said that 1,362 villagers from both tehsils had submitted their applications for the allotment of 198 five-marla plots in two Jinnah Abadis being set up at villages Praimkot and Mustafa Abad.
He further said that after the due scrutiny of applications, 573 applicants were found eligible for the allotment through the computerised draw. The homeless lucky people whose names were drawn in the computerised balloting thanked the Punjab chief minister for giving them shelter.
NEWLY-WED GIRL DEPRIVED OF 10 TOLAS OF GOLD: A newlywed girl was deprived of 10 tolas of gold ornaments in Sukheki. Reportedly, Yaseen, a resident of Mohallah Hassanpura, got married a weak ago. His wife was alone at home when an unknown woman came there and sprayed something on her face as a result of which she went unconscious. Then the woman collected all her gold ornaments and fled away. Meanwhile, in a village Khanpura, some unknown thieves took away cash and articles worth thousands of rupees from three shops of Muhammad Afzal, Zulifqar and Tanveer after breaking the locks.
LIGHTNING BURNS HOUSEHOLD ITEMS: Household items were burnt due to lightning in Sukheki. Reportedly, the lightning hit the house of Muhammad Aalam Mughal. As a result, the concreted roof collapsed and the household articles worth lakhs of rupees were burnt. The electronics of Habib Bank, television of Rauf Ahmad Mughal and instruments of a local cable network were also burnt.
LOW PRESSURE OF GAS IRKS CONSUMERS: People from Hafizabad city were facing hardships due to the low pressure of Sui gas. People in the city said that Sui gas pressure was very poor or was not available in various mohallahs due to which housewives were not able to prepare meals. Local social workers, including Saifullah and Yameen, demanded Sui Northern Gas Pipelines’ high ups provide Sui gas to the domestic consumers without interruption.
