ISLAMABAD – Federal Law Minister Babar Awan on Monday said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would not let the provincial government fall and derailment of democracy in the Punjab, if Nawaz Sharif realised the mistake of indulging in horse-trading and get rid of his advisors promoting floor-crossing in the province. “People make mistakes and if they realise their mistakes, they should be forgiven.
If Nawaz Sharif realising the mistake gets rid of his advisors involved in horse-trading in Punjab, Pakistan Peoples’ Party promise that it will not let the fall of the provincial government or derail democracy in the province,” Babar Awan said while talking to journalists outside the Parliament House.
He also said no political party could support the creation of Unification Bloc as it was against the democratic tradition, adding that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had violated the Charter of Democracy (CoD) with creation of the defectors’ group.
Answering a question concerning Balochistan, the law minister said the situation in the province was a national issue and the PPP was working desperately to address the grievances of the Baloch people. Meanwhile, Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan said if political parties did not take the notice of the current political situation in Punjab, it would prove damaging for democracy, adding that democratic dispensation in the country was being weakened for temporary political gains.
