LAHORE – The Minister for Agriculture Punjab Malik Ahmed Ali Aulakh has said that effective measures need to be taken in order to promote the chief minister’s kitchen gardening project. He said that, with progress and promotion of this project, self sufficiency in produce vegetables would be ensured and people would have access to fresh, cheap and quality vegetables – full of nutrition and free from diseases. The minister directed higher authorities from the agriculture department to increase members of packet of seeds from 20 thousands to 100 thousand, so that this programme could be extended.
He said this, while addressing a meeting regarding chief minister’s kitchen gardening project. The meeting was attended by Agriculture Punjab Secretary Capt (r) Arif Nadeem, Seed Corporation MD Muzaffar Mehmood, DG Agriculture (ext.), Agri-Research DG, Floriculture director, Vegetable director and Agri-Information director. Alulakh appreciated Shahbaz Sharif’s interest to promote and extend the kitchen gardening project.
He said that chief minister had directed him to review efforts in this connection. The minister believed that this project will increase the quantity of vegetables in the country.
