ISLAMABAD – Around 17 federal government officers of BPS-18 and above hold dual nationality, Establishment Division’s minister in-charge told the National Assembly (NA) on Monday.
The officers include Australian national Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) Chairman Dr Yaseen, British national Wasim Tauqeer, British national Talat Abbasi, British national National Language Authority Chairman Iftikhar Arif, Canadian national Deputy Census Commissioner Ismail Leghari, British national Basit Hussain from the Revenue Division, British national Sajjad Azam from the Revenue Division, Canadian national Akhtar Rana, Canadian national Sohail Ahmed, Canadian national Iqbal Rizvi, British national Asghar Khan, Australian national Dr Intishar Ahmed, British national Muhammad Ali, Australian national Shaukat Ali, US national Sohailuz Zaman, Canadian national Nadeem Qasim Khan and US national Muhammad Yar Bhutto. Around 21 other ministries failed to provide information on the issue.
The minister told the House that 161 vacancies of the Secretariat Group and 169 vacancies of the Office Management Group in BPS-17 and above remained vacant in federal ministries during 2010. Around 264 employees were working on deputation under the Establishment Division and its attached autonomous and subordinate departments for the last five years, he said.
